Digital Lab | Intelligent Evolution of the Screening Experiment for the Conditions for the Protein Crystallization Pool Solution

Welcome to the new era of the protein crystallization experiments at the state key laboratory of Peking University Health Science Center! Let's witness the seamless fusion of technology and efficiency and see firsthand how COEVOS' intelligent digital pipetting system excels in protein crystallization experiments. Are you ready? Let's dive in!

Protein crystallization experiments are like mixing a complex cocktail, where precise control of each ingredient is crucial. This process combines scientific methods with artistic creativity. From preparing pool solutions of different concentration gradients to micro-liquid handling, protein spot sampling, and covering the pools with solutions, these operations can be dizzying. But fret not! With COEVOS' intelligent digital pipetting system, protein crystallization experiments become a breeze.

Throughout the protein crystallization process, the pipettor is primarily used to supplement protein samples during initial screening and subsequently manually optimize the crystallization conditions by diluting gradients and adding samples. The challenge for researchers lies not only in handling numerous samples but also in using manual pipettors to add 1-2 µl of protein into 96/48/24-well plates and covering them with corresponding pool solutions to prevent evaporation during cultivation. Additionally, single-channel pipettors are used to add different condition pool solutions into pool wells. When using traditional pipettors, researchers often find themselves questioning life choices due to the repetitive, tedious, and error-prone process of manually adding tiny samples and pool solutions. It's not just about sore hands but also worrying about sample evaporation—a real headache that strains the eyes!

COEVOS' intelligent digital pipetting system is like the superhero of the laboratory. Its single-channel intelligent “equal-volume dispensing” feature excels in protein spotting and pool solution covering on crystallization plates during liquid addition and initial screening of crystallization conditions. Moreover, single/multi-channel pipettors efficiently explore pH gradients, salt ion concentration gradients, PEG concentration gradients, and more during manual optimization of pool conditions, earning well-deserved applause.
